Solution:
|
|
|
The
varied demands of multiple lab types are compressed into a simple,
narrow rectangular plan at the extreme southern edge of the site.
The largest green space on the campus is created from this site.
The slender east facade is placed on axis to a new campus entry street
and a pedestrian axis to the iconic Administration Building dome is
formed between the main building and its Large Scale Testing Lab.
The dramatic 75-foot arch is a focal point of the new quad, and creates
an unmistakably strong identity for the building, yet consciously
derived from the historic styles of earlier architecture on campus.
