KSU Blazer Library
Program Requirements:

The University wanted to renovate two library buildings and add new addition that would tie the two components together.

The project required that the new addition be completed before work began on the renovation, eliminating a double move with disruption of service to the student population. Logistical planning was as important as architectural planning, and was a major design consideration that influenced the solution significantly.

Design Solution:

Blazer Library houses all open shelf collections of approximately 100,000 volumes, periodicals and rare books, and administrative offices. Renovation of the existing building included the creation of special study areas, a government documents room, and a reference library. The building contains state-of-the-art computerized bibliography stations, micro-readers and processors, and study units containing multimedia equipment.
