The lump-sum design build
contract for $58,000,000 was between Judicial Systems, Inc. and
Jefferson County, Kentucky. The contract called for the construction
of the new Judicial Center and the renovation of the existing courts
building, the Jefferson Hall of Justice. The contract amount was
a guaranteed fixed price for the scope of work as described in the
contract.
The Jefferson County Judicial
Center is a Circuit Courts building containing twenty-three (23)
Court Rooms and support space such as Judges Chambers, Jury
Rooms, public waiting, conference rooms, witness waiting rooms,
and Clerks Offices. Also included is prisoner holding cell
areas for prisoners awaiting their court appearance.
The new building features
a three-story atrium that visually interconnects the primary public
services, i.e. case filing, jury pool, public defenders, clerks
offices, and information center. The building has a reinforced concrete
frame and is clad in pre-cast concrete and glass curtain wall. |
