Bellewood Presbyterian Home for Children
Program Requirements:

Re-development of this campus in Anchorage, Kentucky involves the construction of a new Administration Building and five new residential treatment Cottages.
Design Solution:

The six new buildings are carefully sited to create a long formal campus green with the Administration Building on LaGrange Road and the residences clustered around private courtyards toward the rear of the site.

The brick detailing, projecting dormers, and entry porches of each of the new buildings make reference to the historic buildings on Bellewood’s Campus and to its siting within the heart of Anchorage.

The administrative staff, counselors, and boardroom will all be housed in the new 10,000 square foot Administration Building. The well articulated entry lobby and reception area are centrally located with therapy in the east wing, administrative offices in the west wing, and board room to the south.

Eight children will live in each of the five 5,000 square foot Cottages, which were designed around a centrally located staff office that overlooks a large 1,000 square foot living room with a vaulted ceiling, skylights and wood detailing. From this central room all of the other living spaces and bedrooms can be monitored by the staff.

Cost Data:

Construction is currently underway with Louis & Henry serving as the Construction Manager. Estimated construction cost is $5 million.
