Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
Program Requirements:

Design family housing for married students in response to difficult sub-soil and terrain conditions on the fringe of the Southern Seminary Campus.
Design Solutions:

Louis & Henry design a stimulating, yet contemporary lifestyle housing of 70 two-bedroom apartment units of 960 square feet each. The site development avoided the inherent problem of look alike floor plans by stepping the units up the hill and laterally across the hill in response to the terrain conditions.

The concept required the creation of two building clusters with an inner green space uniquely formed by the units of this complex to make a harmonious transition between the campus Georgian architecture and the existing neighborhood conglomerate of quasi-Victorian residential style.

Technical Details:

The buildings were conventional wood frame construction with brick veneer exterior. Completed in 1979.
